Mandela Day: 67 books at a time

11/08/2015 / Mandela Day
National Book Week calls on the public to donate 67 books.

How did you spend your 67 minutes this year? National Book Week (NBW), South Africa’s biggest reading promotion campaign, spent Mandela Day 2015 in Mfuleni, Cape Town, encouraging the public to donate 67 books at a time.

National Book Week staff in partnership with Cape Media Corporation donated books to the Ncedolwethu Edu-Care and Orphanage . We also spent 67 minutes playing with the kids in honour of Madiba’s Legacy.

Nelson Mandela gave 67 years of his life to the struggle against apartheid. People around the globe are asked to mark his birthday on the 18th of July by dedicating 67 minutes of their time to community service.

This is how you can help our campaign: Every year we call on the public to donate 67 books at a time.

Guided by his passion for education and reading, the Buy-a-Book Campaign is about putting books in the homes of underprivileged families and individuals who can otherwise not afford them.
